I have been instrumental
in organization and administration of Medical informatics
at the Institute for the last over 3 decades, with specific
references to the following : |
| 1.1 |
Developed close liaison with Mr. Per Olsson, KIBIC, Stockholm
and several MEDLARS (Off line literature searches) have
been procured. Scientists are being helped in obtaining
monthly updates also. |

MEDLARS-Searches are being continuously acquired free of cost
from NIC-IMC w.e.f. 1988. |
| 1.2 |
Developed a LAN in the Library and implemented the LIBRIS
Software package for NIN Library applications in 2001. |
| 1.3 |
Developed an excellent laision with CCMB, Indian Institute
of Chemical Technology (RRL), Hyderabad, ICRISAT, British
Council Library and other libraries in obtaining and supplying
the photocopies of the articles free of charge. |

Library-User-Education Programme has been made easy by bringing
out "A Guide to NIN Library". |
| 1.5 |
Physical facilities like "Carrels" "Prestosign Boards" were
added which enhanced the prestige and utility of the library. |

"Microfiche reader" has been obtained for enabling the readers
to read microfiches. |

Compilation of bibliographies and their circulation has been
improved. |

Developed a Reprints-Library of over three lakhs of reprints
of articles received through the aid of Current Contents
: Life Sciences. |

Contributed in streamlining the Document Delivery System i.e.
supplying of Xerox articles to both within and out side,
which has touched over 3 lakhs of reprints. |

My relentless efforts in giving a design to a new library
building (NISNUTS) has become true since the new building
is being constructed in 10th Five Year Plan
period. |

Three Pentiums have been commissioned and I have initiated
various computerization programmes. CD/ISIS and SCIMATE
softwares are acquired without cost and are being used. |

Routing of/retrieval aspects of Institute Scientific Publications
being published in various National and International
Journals, Proceedings etc., is being ably managed for
the last over 20 years. |

Acted as Repporteur-General during 4th National
Convention of MLAI, held at Ahmedabad on Oct 3-5, 1991
: and MLAI'93 National Convention Oct 13-16, 1993, New
Delhi. |

With my relentless efforts CD-ROMS OF MEDLINE have been subscribed for 1992 onwards. CD-ROM DISK-DRIVE Hitachi 1700S has been installed,
early 1992. |

More than five Systems i.e., Two P4s and three P2's have been
installed in the library and several LAN nodes have been
provided for round-the clock Internet use. |

I was considered for the Foreign Assignment and was posted
as Adviser to National Library, Maldives. But Govt. to
Maldives has withdrawn the facility at the last moment
without any reason (Dec '93). |

I am on the faculty for teaching the participants of various
training programmes run by National Institute of Nutrition,
Hyderabad A.P. University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada
and gave regular lectures on the use of INTERNET, MEDLINE
CDS, PROQUEST, etc. |

of the library print materials, to ICMR, New Delhi. |
